RJ PISANI

BOBBY

My problem with Biographies is that writing things like,

"RJ Pisani recently debuted in In/Finite, a short sci-fi drama and Winner of Best Ensemble Acting award at the Indie Suspense Horror Sci-Fi Festival, winner of Best Drama Short award at the Bloodstained Indie Film Festival, and most recently received television placement via Hughes Pictures and will begin regular programming on Direct TV this spring."

always feels disingenuous  and fake to me. It's like I'm trying to sell something I'm not. While its all completely true, running lists such as,

"On Stage, RJ has performed in such roles as Gilley in I'm Not Rappaport, John Proctor in an adaptation of the Crucible, as well as Talthybius in the Greek Tragedy Trojan Woman."

just seem empty and void of any opinion; which, good or bad, is something I promised myself I'd always leave behind with my work. I care a great deal about trying to express the truth and human nature. To that end, it seems like a great disservice to rattle off things like,

"From the very young age of 8, RJ has studied theater. His classical training began under the direction of Broadway's Samuel E. Wright at the Hudson Valley Conservatory of Fine Arts. From there, he continued his training in the Neighborhood Playhouses' Junior school program, and just this past January, completed the two-year Miesner Conservatory at the Acting Studio under the direction of James Price.".

Not because it glazes over the shear amount of effort that went into that training, but, more importantly, It seems unfair to the mentors who spent so much of their time and energy trying to always get me to be genuine and true to myself. Don't get me wrong, having the space to write things like

"With a certain charm, vulnerability, and a strong desire to take risks RJ's theatrical style has at times been compared to the likes of Heath Ledger..."

feels great, but if I'm being completely honest, I'd much rather show you than tell you.
